Metabolic Age Calculator

Metabolic Age is an estimate of how your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) compares to the average BMR of people in your age group. It indicates whether your metabolism is typical for your actual age, younger, or older. A metabolic age lower than your actual age suggests a healthy metabolism, while a higher metabolic age might indicate slower metabolism often associated with lower muscle mass, higher fat levels, or other lifestyle factors.

How to Calculate Metabolic Age

To calculate metabolic age:

  1. Calculate BMR: Using height, weight, age, and gender. Common formulas include:
    • Men: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 × weight in kg) + (4.799 × height in cm) - (5.677 × age)
    • Women: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 × weight in kg) + (3.098 × height in cm) - (4.330 × age)
  2. Compare BMR with Age Groups: Compare your BMR to the average BMR for your age group to determine metabolic age.

Understanding the Result

  • Lower Metabolic Age: Indicates a healthy metabolism, often associated with higher muscle mass and better cardiovascular health.
  • Higher Metabolic Age: May suggest a slower metabolism, possibly due to lower muscle mass or higher body fat.

Improving Health According to Metabolic Age

  • Increase Physical Activity: Strength training and cardiovascular exercise can help boost metabolism.
  • Maintain a Balanced Diet: Protein-rich foods and regular meals can support a healthy metabolism.
  • Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is crucial for optimal metabolic function.
